Recently, I’ve been motivated to get amongst all the wonderful and cool UX events happening in Melbourne. It’s great to see that this is a topic that is becoming more and more popular as time goes on. It’s also fantastic to see so many new faces in the community. What makes it interesting is the wealth of knowledge, the eagerness to both share and learn and the people from all areas of design.
Here are two of the most recent Melbourne UX events that I’ve been to.
UX Movie Night Usually occurs monthly.
UX related movies are shown on a variety of different topics. I saw a movie which related to how User Experience Designers and Industrial Designers can work closer together to create better products for customers. The event was held at Horse Bazaar and there was a decent turn out. It was great to see people were keen to chat and interact at the end of the movie.
Melbourne Geeks Occurs Bi-Monthly.
Whilst the web site states that this is an event for people in the web industry, on the night I was present, general UX topics were the main theme of the evening. There were three different presentations which I thought was great because it covered a variety of topics. I witnessed a presentation by Chris Gray about the 5 Myths of User Research, Designing for Delight by Ben R and Ben T from Thirst Studios and How to Create a Great Sketch Video by Matt Magain at Sketch Videos. This event was held at Loop bar and had a large turnout.
