Here’s a little tip – If you’re short on time and can’t be bothered checking all of your favourite websites one by one for the latest news and information, this method will help you view a list of articles in your iGoogle page all at once. By doing this, you can find new and useful information that you like quickly and easily. When you see an article link in iGoogle, you can click the link and it takes you to the full article straight away. This is extra handy if you have setup your iGoogle account to be your browser’s default homepage like me.
To get started, you will need to have an iGoogle account. If you don’t have one, they are quick and easy to setup through http://www.google.com/ig. Once you have your iGoogle setup, log in to it. Now, when you find a website that you like that publishes updates on a regular basis (eg a blog), chances are they will have an RSS feed, usually located in the top right or sidebar of the page. When you click on the RSS icon, you will be redirected to a page that usually looks something like this:
For the purposes of this quick tip, click “Add to Google Homepage” and Bingo!!! you will now find a new widget for the website you want to follow on your iGoogle page. The widget shows you a list of the three most recent articles or updates for that website. Here’s what it looks like
There are quite a few other ways and methods to follow RSS feeds such as using Google reader for example, but the method described here is one of my personal favourites.
I hope you find it useful…..Happy surfing.
