Hi Abdullah. Thanks for the comment.
When it comes to resizing images, it’s always best to resize from the largest sized image possible – and avoid upscaling images as much as you can. As soon as you upscale, you tend to lose quality pretty quickly. Never resize a resized image – resize from the original where possible.

As for Google Plus, this system for resizing that they have is super nifty. I don’t know too much about how it works, but they would keep the original sized image on their servers and then depending on what device is asking for the image (eg PC or Mobile) they will resize the image accordingly. This is a very efficient way of handling data transfer and image quality at the same time.

Thanks Adrian for this post.
As you are in this business I have a question that I really tried hard to answer with no luck.
As a novice user of google plus, I am struggling to understand the resizing point.
I am not a professional photographer. I always take pics on my iPhone, does it really matter if these images are resized automatically by google plus. Will the quality of these images deteriorate significantly?
Take into consideration that these images will be mainly viewed and shared online or printed in the common dimensions ( I guess something like 4*6).
Another point is whether google plus keeps the original resolution of these images under the hood, so they can be imported back?

Hi Kat. Well, I have had the good fortune to use both the First and Second Gen Models. To my knowledge, the First Gen model is no longer for sale through Wacom and is an obsolete model, so I’d be assuming you can get it cheaper as a second hand unit? If you can afford it, I’d go the Second Gen unit as it feels a whole lot better and its had various improvements from it’s predecessor….however, at the end of the day, they both draw fine, so if you’re not too concerned with the enhancements….the First Gen will do. Having said all that I really do prefer the Second Gen unit. Hope this helps

I guess you already know about NXP (http://www.nxp.com/). I don’t know how much you are into investing, but it may be a good ride if it keeps being the leader in the field. It’s highly indebted and may be sort of a gamble, but I may put some of it into my portfolio because I really like this technology.

Hi Matias, interesting question. I think at this time, it’s mainly the big companies like Mastercard and Google who stand to benefit. Mastercard from a financial point of view, Google probably more from a strategic point of view.

As this technology is still in it’s infancy, I’d suspect that most businesses will watch and wait to see what the major companies are doing…then after they’ve got all their heads around NFC payments, we’ll see further innovation and more smaller companies coming up with interesting uses for the technology.

Any ideas which companies will benefit the most from this technology? I’ve had NFC in my radar for a while, but besides Google (which is too big to actually see a considerable jump in revenue from this), I haven’t been able to put together a strategy to benefit from this tech which I, as you do, think IS coming. Hi James.
These screengrabs have been taken from the Android SDK running on my computer – they have not been taken from a tablet device. I’ve written an article on how to install honeycomb on your computer here.

Perhaps you could try doing this. When you have Android running, then you can just hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard and then paste into your image editor of choice.
