I stumbled across this very nice tool called Harmony. It’s a great little web application that let’s you draw with some really nice brushes and textures.
The image above is a quick 5 or 6 minute sketch I did using the application.

This particular tool is a web based app, but if you like, you could try a free program called Alchemy. I believe it is very similar to Harmony. Here’s the link http://al.chemy.org/ Let me know how you go if you try it.
